Rates:
For 2022-2023 tuition rates please contact the studio by email (sotanj@yahoo.com) or phone (732-821-0666).
Tuition rates are based on a yearly dance season (36-38 weeks). Tuition installments are not monthly but are known as 1st tuition installment, 2nd tuition installment, etc. However, tuition installments are conveniently broken up into monthly due dates. At the time of registration for the 2022-2023 season, all patrons must pay the first and last tuition installments together along with a non-refundable registration fee of $30 per dancer or $40 per family. Tuition installments are calculated based upon the number of hours of class your child takes per week.
Discounts are available for the following plans:
4 installments prepaid tuition* --- Half priced registration fee
6 installments prepaid tuition* --- No registration fee and deduct 3% from tuition
Full year prepaid tuition --- No registration fee and deduct 5% from tuition
* Discounts are available at time of registration only or until November 1st, 2022 for 4 and 6 installment plans.
Deduct $2.00 per month from tuition if two or more children are enrolled in a single class.
Deduct $5.00 per month from tuition if two or more children are each enrolled in multiple classes.
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. If payment is not received by the 7th of the month you are not entitled to the early payment discount. All returned checks will be subject to a $25 service charge.
Any dancer who misses two tuition installments in a row will not be permitted to dance until account has been cleared. As per studio policy, we cannot accept any checks for any type of payment after May 15th.
Mandatory-Dress Code:
It is mandatory that all dance-wear must be purchased at the studio.
This includes leotards, tights, and shoes. Please see front desk for information on how to order dance-wear.
All Dancers: No jewelry may be worn in class. Label all dance-wear and shoes. Hair must be worn properly confined away from the face and off of the neck. This should be done prior to class. You must be wearing the appropriate dance-wear and shoes for your class.
Students who are not properly attired on more than two instances may not be allowed to participate in class.
School of the Arts is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen property.
General Information:
Students are encouraged to be at the studio in their dance uniforms and ready to begin 5 minutes prior to class time. All student's personal belongings and clothing should be placed in the provided boxes. Students should sit quietly in waiting area until their class begins. Please help keep our studio clean and pick up after yourself.
During class changes, it is imperative that all students, siblings, and parents allow classes to move easily from one classroom to another and not block class pathways. Please be considerate during these high traffic times. Parents and siblings waiting for dancers must keep the noise level down during class so as not to disrupt the dancers and teachers.
Classes must begin on time. We ask that you do not interrupt any class once it has begun and should there be a need to speak with a teacher, it cannot be done during class times. Disruptions during class times are very unfair to the entire class. Please see the secretary at the front desk if you need assistance. If necessary, our staff will be happy to assist in arranging for a telephone or individual conference.
Attendance:
Please notify the studio if your child will not be attending a class due to personal reasons or illness by email or phone. Attendance is extremely important and any student who misses ten or more classes during the year may be excluded from the recital, since it ultimately is not fair to the entire class.
Tardiness:
Prompt arrival is extremely important for all dancers to properly warm up and prevent any injuries. Please notify the studio by phone if your child will be tardy. All dancers should arrive to the studio at least 5 minutes prior to class time. Any student who is more than ten minutes late to class may, at the discretion of the teacher, only be allowed to observe class.
Make Up Classes:
Missed classes due to illness, religious events, or emergencies may be made-up throughout the year on an
individual basis. Parents are responsible for seeing the front desk to see what class you can attend for your make-up as we will not schedule a make-up class for you. There are no refunds or tuition adjustments for absences or missed classes.
Inclement weather:
In the event of inclement weather, call the studio at (732) 821-0666 and listen to the message or check the studio facebook by 3pm for day in question. Do not assume class is cancelled if your township school is closed.
We cannot call each student's home, so please call and check the studio voicemail or facebook.
There will be no make-ups for inclement weather; make ups are available on an individual basis.
Please see the front desk if you would like to attend a make up class.
Holidays:
The studio will only be closed for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break, and Memorial Day Weekend. Please do not assume that if your child has no school that there is no dance. You can see the Calendar webpage for our exact closing dates.
Competition Team:
School of the Arts has award winning teams that compete in various competitions all over the state of NJ. Currently, there are Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Production competition teams. Solos, duos, or trios are permitted for competition team members only and under director's discretion.
Competition teams are by invitation/audition only and require additional fees and scheduling commitments.
Costumes:
All dancers who participate in the annual recital are required to purchase a recital costume for each dance class.
Payment for all costumes are due in full by November 7th. After November 7th, additional processing/shipping fees will be added. All costume purchases are final and cannot be returned or refunded. For pricing of costumes for your dancers size please contact the studio in person, by phone, or by email. All accessories will require additional payment if not included with the costume (ie: gloves, hats, tights, shoes, etc.).
Recital:
Participation in our annual recital is optional, please make sure to let the studio know by email if your dancer will not be participating in the recital. It is mandatory for all students, excluding Dance with Me, Kinder Dance, Nursery Dance, and Elementary Combo, to perform in dress rehearsal and both recital shows (when it is confirmed). At dress rehearsal, dancers may leave when they have completed all of their dance routines. At recital however, it is mandatory that all dancers stay the entire length of the show, as each dancer performs in the last dance of the recital known as the finale. Only 2 guests per family will be admitted into dress rehearsal. There is a 4 ticket minimum per family for the recital. For the safety of the dancers, a parent or guardian must attend dress rehearsal and both shows if dancer is in both. Recital ticket purchases are final and cannot be exchanged, replaced, or refunded.
Additional information about the recital (times, tickets, procedures) will be published in our Recital Newsletter.
The 2023 dress rehearsal and recital dates will be announced when they are confirmed.
We at the School of the Arts try our best to offer a professional dance education center.
With your help, we know we can be successful.
